5 Homemade Stretch Mark Removers for Deep, Discolored Stretch Marks

by Ambriel

I couldn’t stand to look at my behind or thighs in the mirror.

The stretch marks on my boobs were even worse.

Never in a million years did I think I would feel this way about my body after giving birth to my beautiful, healthy baby boy, but I couldn’t shake the insecurities that swallowed the little confidence I had.

So many new moms think of their stretch marks as their “battle wounds” or “mom badges”, and I couldn’t agree more.

But I just wasn’t comfortable in my skin.

I guess the postpartum depression had something to do with it but I wanted to feel sexy for my husband and love my body again.

If you’re struggling to embrace your stretch marks after having a baby or after losing weight, just know that you are not alone.

You shouldn’t feel ashamed for wanting to make yourself feel good again.

In this post, we are going to discuss some of the best homemade ingredients you can use to create a stretch mark removal cream/lotion.

First, we’ll discuss individual ingredients and how they work to remove stretch marks.

Then we’ll list 5 homemade stretch mark remover recipes that you can create at home. Keep reading if you’re reading to get rid of your stretch marks for good.

How do you make your own stretch mark remover cream?

Different products and ingredients will work for different people.

Some moms have had their stretch marks fade away in months while others have had their stretch marks for years.

Making your own remover cream will consist of a lot of trial and error.

You’ll have to create and try different concoctions for weeks at a time until you find that one mixture that solves the problem.

What makes a good stretch mark remover?

A good stretch mark remover cream should do these things:

  • Repair damaged skin – Stretch marks are torn skin fibers. Oils with fatty acids can help repair the top layer of skin.
  • Hydrate and moisture the skin – Applying a hydrating oil can help your skin retain moisture and reduce the appearance of your stretch marks.
  • Reduce itchiness – The itching literally drove me insane during my pregnancy. A good stretch mark remover cream will alleviate the itching sensation you feel around our stretch marks.
  • Improve the appearance and even out your skin tone – My stretch marks are a bright red and purple. A good stretch mark remover cream should help the damaged skin return back to its original tone.

Using essential oils to treat your stretch marks can be a big step to seeing fast results. Here’s a list of essential oils you can use to get rid of stretch marks.

Another product you should consider including in your homemade stretch mark remover cream is Vitamin E oil.

Vitamin E oil is probably the most popular ingredient to use in a stretch mark remover cream.

It strengthens and repairs the skin barrier. Plus, it reduces itchiness, a common problem associated with stretch marks.

Almond oil contains vitamin A which helps treat dry, peeling skin

I can’t fail to mention Bio-Oil.

Bio-oil is seen as a holy grail product for fading stretch marks.

It hydrates the skin and treats existing skin damage. If you have sun damage or discoloration, applying bio-oil to the affected areas on a consistent basis will improve your skin.

Shea butter, cocoa butter, and beeswax are thick creams that you can use as a base for your homemade creams. Just mix the oils in with the butters.

Again, the products listed above are just the tip of the iceberg.

The good thing is you can combine most of these products together and create your own concoction.

Make sure you test a small amount of each product on your hands to make sure you’re not allergic to them.
